Artist of Divine inspirations and conversations
Artist of Divine inspirations and conversations
My first cognitive memory of doing art was when I was four years old. It was during a South Pacific island torrential thunderstorm while I, with my mother and siblings by candlelight, created three-dimensional figures out of melting candle wax.
When my family moved to Madrid, Spain, I picked up sketching. The Spanish artists who held a tremendous influence on my vision were Goya, El Greco, and Velazquez. However, as I matured and became involved artistically through theater and music, Erte's work became influentially inspiring.
While I was living in Spain, attending elementary school, I received tutoring in a gifted artist program, both in art and music. When I returned to the states, I continued to study music and art. However, painting has been predominantly self-taught, and craft art I have taken up through the love of my Indigenous culture. Music has also been a cultural connection and a diligent study of classical voice with Robert Austin of the San Diego Opera as my voice coach. When I moved to Sonoma County, CA, my training continued with Helen Sydell and Thelma Ahner. I sang in the Sonoma County chorus, have worked in chamber music, orchestra, musical theater, opera, and jazz in the Brazilian jazz band Cabochon.
I have installed my artwork in museums, art galleries, college campuses, and bookshops in the United States and Canada. Many of my pieces have made their homes internationally.
I have been making specialty gourmet cakes and wedding cakes for over 40 years. I teach private classes in baking and cake decorating upon request.
I worked in fine jewelry for 20 years and studied gemology through GIA. I attended the Fashion Institute in LA with a brief career in the field as a designer pattern maker that led me to establish an at-home business when my daughter was a child.
My heritage is from Aboriginal North Central California. I am a citizen of the Coast Miwok/Southern Pomo FIGR community. I am also a descendent of the Shasta/Klamath/Modoc aboriginal people of California and Southern Oregon. My present art and music focus developed to help educate and to celebrate Indigenous Identity, beauty, and intelligence.
In 1995 February, I received Reiki I and Reiki II degree initiations. In October 1995, I received Reiki III, Master-Teacher attunement. The following year, The Temple of Isis ordained me as a priestess. In June 1998, I received my Bachelor of Metaphysics Practitioner certificate and an ordination through the University of Metaphysics in Sedona, Arizona. I have been a licensed minister in California since 1996.
I went into ministry for service and for the support of well-being for all peoples, as well as supporting those who could not marry through the traditional church jurisdictional regulations. I make myself available for spiritual support through times of transition.
For those that are interested in working through trauma, grief, and loss through an Indigenous perspective, visit the nonprofit L.U.T.E.A. that I founded, at www.lutea.org.
Those who want individual support from a metaphysical nature and within a private venue please visit my services here on the site and make an appointment. I look forward to hearing from you and being of service to you.
My joy is to support and inspire. I taught in universities within the US and Canada as a professor in Indigenous Studies, the subject of my Doctorate, in Indigenous Consciousness that I received from Trent University in Ontario, Canada. My undergraduate degree is in Philosophy and my studies emphasized world religions and women's studies that I received from the University of Hawaii. I combine my knowledge not only as a professor with the support and honor of my Indigenous cultural knowledge as a ceremonial singer and facilitator, but also my knowledge as a spiritual practitioner within metaphysical awareness and indigenous practices. I offer Astrology classes including indigenous awareness within the course, as well as presentations on archetypes, including an indigenous perspective. As a Reiki Master, I offer Reiki attunement to Reiki I and II and Master Teacher Attunements. I also offer lectures and discourse on indigenous lifeways and consciousness where I have been a presenter at the Yreka Historical Society and the Yreka Public Library, United Indian Health Service, University of Hawaii and Wellbriety Summits. Please contact me if you would like a presentation and for more information regarding a workshop or to be on my mailing list for future events.
